SoftLayer Launches Dedicated Storage Service

Dallas-based SoftLayer, the provider of managed and cloud hosting services, is expanding its range of services today, saying it has launched a new offering. The firm said its new QuantaStor Storage Server will provide dedicated, high performance storage on its SoftLayer Mass Storage dedicated servers. SoftLayer said it is working with OS Nexus to offer the servers, which will provide iSCSI and network attached storage (NAS) storage for user's dedicated servers. Pricing on the new product were not disclosed. SoftLayer said the new storage servers will offer up 1GbE and 10GbE iSCSI connections, both hard drive and solid state drive support, thin provisioning of storage volumes, and more.
