GameStop, Radio Shack To Carry Google Play Gift Cards
Two Texas-based retailers, Grapevine-based videogame retailer GameStop and Fort Worth-based electronics retailer Radio Shack, are spearheading the launch of Google's new Google Play gift cards today, Google's entry into allowing users to purchase gifts cards at retail locations to use on its Google Play store for Android tablets and phones. GameStop and Radio Shack, along with Target, will allow users to purchase gift cards to Google which they can use to purchase applications on their Android devices. The cards are the first time that users will be able to give dollars for use on the Google Play store; the gift cards also will help Google reach consumers--particularly teenagers--who do not have access to a credit card to purchase apps.
