Dell Launches New Virtual Desktop Products For Citrix
Round Rock-based Dell is bolstering its products for the cloud computing market today, saying that it has launched a new batch of Citrix validated products aimed at helping organizations deploy their own cloud environments. The firm said the new products include vStart for VDI 50 and vStart for VDI 1000, two reference architectures for Citrix XenDesktop 5.6, which include PowerEdge servers, EqualLogic or Compellent storage, PowerConnect or Force10 networking, Dell Wyse T10, Dell Wyse Xenith Pro and Dell Wyse Xenith 2 thin- and zero-clients. The company also said it will offering up a DVS Simplified Appliance to help implement virtual desktops, and a new Managed Service to help companies with those implementations. Citrix is one of the major provider of virtual desktop software, via its XenDesktop software, which is heavily used by enterprise customers for centrally managing PC images and making them available via thin clients.
