Dell Buys Credent

Round Rock-based Dell said Tuesday that it has acquired Addison, Texas-based Credant Technologies, a provider of data protection software. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Dell said that Credent's data protection solutions to control, manage and secure data sent from endpoints to servers, storage and the cloud would bolster its computing solutions. Credent, which was founded in 2001, was headed by Bob Heard.
