Dell Backs Mirantis
Round Rock-based Dell, via its Dell Ventures arm, has backed the provider of OpenStack integration and tools, Mirantis. Mirantis, which is based in Silicon Valley, said it received $10M in funding from Intel Capital, WestSummit Capital, and Dell Ventures yesterday. Mirantis said it provides OpenStack systems integration, and is looking to accelerate the adoption of OpenStack clouds by service providers, SaaS vendors, and enterprises. OpenStack is the open source, cloud hosting platform which was originally developed by RackSpace, but which has since been adopted by a number of firms looking to develop an open, cloud computing platform which allows customers to move between different ISPs for their cloud hosting, without having to retool or recode their software.
