Icon Launches To Bring The Business Card Into The Digital Age

Tired of forgetting those paper business cards at events? Think the whole idea of handing out little pieces of paper is antiquated? A new, Austin startup, Icon, has a solution for you, a new service to help professionals get their critical information to others, via a "digital business card". The new startup, founded by Kent Savage and Matt Hovis, said it is backed with $500,000 in angel funding, and is looking to create digital business cards for modern professionals.

According to Icon, its service lets you create rich, dynamic professional profiles tied to your existing, social feeds, optimized to be shared with anyone via smartphone, email, or online. The service revolves around "Icons" featuring a photo of the user, links to that user's social profiles, and biographical details. Icon said it is in the midst of preparing for a Series A round.
