Internet Real Estate Brokerage Redfin Expands in Houston

An Internet real estate brokerage company, Redfin--which already has operations in Dallas and Austin--said Wednesday that it has opened up in Houston. Redfin, which offers up an Internet-enabled real estate site which helps real estate buyers and sellers connect--and provides corresponding, discounted brokerage fees--said it has opend up in Houston, covering the Downtown, The Galleria, The Woodlands, Humble, Cypress, Katy, Sugarland, Pearland, and League City areas. Redfin is based in Seattle, and has been in Dallas since 2010 and Austin since last year. The company is looking to overturn the traditional real estate agent model, by paying their agents on salary, not commission, and providing discounted fees to buyers and sellers.
