GameStop Courts XBox Users With Upgrade Offer
One of the big issues videogame retailers face is the dreaded game console upgrade cycle, where users put off buying videogames just before console makers launch upgraded versions of their machines. To address that, GameStop said late Thursday that it will begin offering up a "guaranteed upgrade offer" which will provide a way for members of its customer program to upgrade their current, Xbox 360 games to the new, Xbox One game for only $9.99, offering up a minimum of $50 credit on specific Xbox 360 titles. Microsoft has been recently announcing details on its upcoming, next generation Xbox One three months ago, but the console is not expected to ship until November.
