GameStop Sees Sales Growth On Console Launches
The launch of the new, Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 helped to push the growth of revenues for Grapevine, Texas-based videogame retailer GameStop, the company said today in announcing its quarterly and yearly results. GameStop said it had total sales of $3.68 billion for the fourth quarter of 2013, which was a 3.4 percent increase over the prior year. The increase was welcome for GameStop, which had been seeing a broad impact on its business due to lack of new game consoles in the last few years. GameStop said the launch of the Microsoft and Sony consoles boosted its new video game hardware sales by 29.7 percent.
