Homejoy: We're Expanding Into Texas, Too
Texas appears to be the next hot market for smartphone-enabled, Internet generation services (think Uber-for-X), as another, Silicon Valley company--Homejoy, says it has been expanding into Texas over the past few months. Homejoy, which offers up an internet- and smartphone-enabled home cleaning service--which connects local users with home cleaners via a peer-to-peer marketplace--says it is now serving Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. The startup says it launched into Dallas and Houston in April, San Antonio in May, and Austin in July. Homejoy helps connect people with background-checked house cleaners in its markets, for $20/hour. The site offers up online quotes, reference checks, and other assurances of local cleaners, who it connects with local residents.
