FireHost Takes On PCI Security With Cloud Offering

Dallas-based cloud hosting provider FireHost said today that it has updated its Payment Island service, to help tackle the PCI compliance headaches of many online businesses. FireHost said its service provides a decoupled, credit card database environment to improve compliance, provide better security, and help companies pass their PCI audits much faster, by de-coupling payment processing from a company's other IT operations. PCI compliance is a major headache for companies, who must spend a huge amount of time and effort to make sure any systems with access to credit card data are secure to the satisfaction of PCI auditing companies. FireHost says it separates out those payment operations with its Payment Island product, and that it is already processing more than $20 billion dollars in transactions for vendors through the service.
