Bigcommerce Debuts New Platform

Austin-based e-commerce software developer Bigcommerce released a brand new product this morning, called Bigcommerce Next. According to Bigcommerce, its new released adds such features as integrated app store; themed store designs; a new blogging engine; mobile store management apps for iOS and Android, and much more. Bigcommerce said the focus of the new release was combining "brains" with "beauty", explaining that although Bigcommerce is known for its powerful e-commerce software, it hadn't been known for "beautiful online stores". The company now says it has dozens of themed,store designs which are "visually stunning" and also optimized for conversion. Bigcommerce has been in a big hiring push in Austin over the last few months. The company is backed by Revolution Growth, the investment arm of former AOL CEO Steve Case, and also has investments from General Catalyst Partners, FLOODGATE, and others. The company's founders are Eddie Machaalani and Mitchell Harper.
