GENBAND Bolsters Canadian Sales Efforts

Frisco, Texas-based GENBAND, which supplies equipment to the telecommunications and cable market, said today that it is bolstering its Canadian sales efforts with a new VP. GENBAND said it has named Dave Shier as Senior Vice President of Sales for Canada, as part of an effort to specifically serve the Canadian market. Shier had been the company's SVP of Sales for its Asia Pacific region. GENBAND explained that Canada is "such an important market" for the company, that it has created its own sales district--separate from its Americas sales--to focus on the region. GENBAND also has about 25 percent of its employees in Ottawa, in large part due to an acquisition in 2010 of Nortel's Carrier Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Application Solutions assets.
