RadioShack Launches Effort To Boost Hardware Startups
Fort Worth-based electronics retailer RadioShack said this morning that it has launched a new effort called RadioShack Labs, which will help startup sand inventors get their products to market faster through RadioShack's stores. RadioShack said the new effort--being run in conjunction with PCH--will ask for new product ideas from innovators, inventors and makers, and provide help with those products, production, and distribution. The companies said the program will create a "direct path" to 2,000 RadioShack stores, including preferred positioning on Radio Shack's website. The companies said that an example of the types of products it expects to bring to market through the effort are LittleBits, the modular electronic kits, which are expected to hit RadioShack stores in late summer.
