Metacloud Opens Office In Austin, Ramps Hiring

Metacloud, a startup providing operation and hosting of private OpenStack clouds for companies, said today that it has opened up a new, Austin office, and plans to hire 20 to 30 employees in the location over the next 24 months. The office comes as the company has hired away two of Rackspace's OpenStack evangelists to head up its own OpenStack evangelism efforts. Metacloud is venture backed by AME Cloud Ventures, Canaan Partners, Pelion Venture Partners, Silicon Valley Bank, Storm Ventures, and UMC Capital, and recently raised $15M in funding. Metacloud said it has named former Rackspace employee Scott Sanchez as its new Vice President of Strategy, and fellow former Rackspace employee Niki Acosta as its new Director of Evangelism. Both are based in Austin.
