Metacloud, With Ops In Austin, Acquired By Cisco
Metacloud, the cloud infrastructure startup which set up shop in Austin in June, has been acquired by Cisco, the companies said Wednesday. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Metacloud helps enterprises implement private cloud technology based on OpenStack, the open cloud infrastructure software which has been strongly championed by San Antonio's Rackspace. Metacloud said in June that it planned to hire 20 to 30 employees in Austin over the next 24 months; it's unclear how the acquisition will affect those plans.
