Dell Mulls EMC Asset Buy, Says Report

Round Rock-based Dell has been named as one of the companies mulling an acquisition of some of the assets of data storage giant EMC, according to reports today. According to the WSJ and others, EMC has been looking for buyers for the last few months, including potentially selling EMC's core data storage assets to Dell. It appears that Dell is only looking at a portion of EMC, which has been under pressure to unlock some of the value in the company. Both Dell and EMC are major providers of data storage products to the enterprise market. Dell has not commented on the rumors.
