Amazon Plans Technology Center In Austin, Say Reports

E-commerce giant Amazon.com has been in majoring hiring mode nationwide--however, almost exclusively for warehouse type jobs at its many distribution centers. However, it looks like Austin is being targeted as one of the extremely rare, technology centers for Amazon.com, according to a report from the Statesman Wednesday. The report--citing "sources familiar with the company's plans"--said that Amazon.com has been looking for a location in Austin for a year or so, and is hoping to hire 200 technical staffers in the city. Amazon.com has not yet announced any plans for the center.
