WP Engine Teams With Facebook On Open Source Effort
Austin-based content management platform developer WP Engine said today that it has release a new platform, which it co-developed with Facebook as part of an open source project. WP Engine said it rolled out Mercury, a dynamic content platform which is built on the HHVM (HipHop Virtual Machine) Open Source Virtual Machine Project, which lets PHP and HHVM run side-by-side on servers. WP Engine said the use of HHVM can result in an average response time increase of 560% for modern websites and applications with dynamic content.
