Under Armour Launches New Fitness Tracking App
Fitness apparel maker Under Armour has launched a new, fitness tracking app--directly as result of the company's acquisition of Austin's MapMyFitness in 2013--called UA Record. Under Armour announced its new fitness tracking app at the Consumer Electronics Show, showing off a comprehensive application which tracks both health and fiteness data, logging a user's workouts, activity, social challenges, and more. The new app runs on both iOS and Android, and taps into smartphone GPS and motion sensors, as well as third party fitness tracking devices. Under Armour paid $150M for MapMyFitness two years ago specifically for its fitness activity tracking apps.
