SpareFoot Recruits The Mountain To Austin Startup Games

Um, don't mess with the newest "executive" over at Austin-based SpareFoot. SpareFoot said Friday that Icelandic strongman Hafthor "Thor" Bjornsson--better known to those of us here in the U.S. as "The Mountain" from the Game of Thrones--has joined the company as Senior Vice President of the company's Icelandic business. SpareFoot brought Bjornsson into Austin on the eve of this year's Austin Startup Games, having hinted at bringing in a "secret weapon" to win the event over the prior week. Bjornsson looks to have been a huge favorite at the games, based on the massive number of pictures posted of him with attendees this weekend, but Sparefoot actually did not hire Bjornsson to the company and the company has no current expansion intent in Iceland, having brought The Mountain specifically to Austin to enter him as an "employee" for the games.
