Freescale Backs Software Defined Networking Standard
Austin-based semiconductor maker Freescale said this morning that it is backing the OpenDataPlane (ODP) standard, which focuses on a programming model for software-defined networks (SDN). Freescale said its QorIQ platforms will support the standard, which makes it easier for developers to access such functions as IPSEC and traffic management. Freescale said its QorIQ processors handle all of those functions. Freescale has been an active contributor to the standard, which is being developed under the Linaro Networking Group (LNG).
