Ellevest, a new startup which is developing a online investment site specifically for women, said it is launching its service in Austin, which it says will be the first city in the U.S. to have access to its platform. The startup--based in New York--said it is looking to provide pratical, goals-based helps to women, to help them make investments and become more financially empowered. The startup, led by CEO Sallie Krawcheck, said that the launch in Austin is the start of a national rollout for the company. The company says it uses details on a woman, including her age, education and income, among other factors, along with unique goals, to design a personalized, investment portfolio. The company said it will charge 0.5 percent of assets per year for access to its services.
