Austin Impounds Cars, Targets Ridesharing Drivers

The City of Austin is impounding the cars of ridesharing drivers, as it looks to clamp down on rides being arranged through the Facebook group Arcade City Austin. Apparently, police officers have been aggressively impounding cars of those who are driving for the group, saying that those drivers do not meet city transportation rules. The members of the Facebook group includes a large number of former Uber and Lyft drivers, who were left out in the cold after those two ser‪vices pulled out of Austin, after it passed fingerprinting rules for ridesharing drivers.
