Thea.com Targets Cyclists, Runners, and Triathletes With New Site
Austin-based Thea.com is hoping to help runners, cyclists, triathletes, and others connect with local training opportunities and events, with a new website it launched this week. The startup, founded by Efim Gendler and Dennis Lastochkin, lets users search for events that match their interests in a specific city--for example, searching for running events and races in Austin, or bicycle races in Dallas. Gendler previously served at IBM, Motorola, and Magic Solutions; and Lastochkin is founder of Structured Domains--which is supplying the technology behind the new site. Structured Domains' software is aimed at helping anyone put up a peer-to-peer marketplace, similar to Thea.com, although in this case Lastochkin apparently is an enthusiastic bicycle racer and triathlete.
