GE Aviation, Qantas Launch New Software Effort In Austin, Plan Hiring

GE Aviation and Qantas said last week that the two have opened up a new "digital collaboration center" which will apply software architecture and development to a number of issues in the aviation sector. According to GE Aviation, it will tap into a team of data scientists, software developers and architects from GE and Qantas , which will address airline operational challenges, which will be housed at 400 W 15th Street in Austin. GE said it has approximately 27,000 square feet at the facility, which employs about 100 data scientists, engineers, and designers, and that it expects development at the location will lead to "significant increase in employment" in Austin. GE also released a video about the new Austin location.
