WP Engine Offers Up Free SSL Certifications To Customers

Austin-based WP Engine, the provider of WordPress hosting services, is looking to help push even more websites towards using SSL, the secure website protocol, by offering up every one if ts customers free SSL/TLS certificates. Those certificates--which are used by websites to identify themselves and serve up encrypted content--have typically been difficult to deploy and expensive to purchase. According to WP Engine, it is using Let's Encrypt SSL/TLS certifications, an open certificate authority which is aiming at making HTTPS, secure web authentication ubiquitous. WP Engine said the support of those secure sites will help in both search engine optimization (SEO) and security efforts of its customers.
