Dallas-Houston Route On Hyperloop One Short List

A route between Dallas and Houston has made a list of the "top 10 routes" being considered by "hyperloop" transportation developer Hyperloop One, as part of a competition run by Hyperloop One. According to Hyperloop One, which is based in Los Angeles, the Dallas-Houston route was one of the winners in its Hyperloop One Global Challenge to identify the strongest new Hyperloop routes in the world. As a result, Hyperloop One said it will commit "meaningful" business and engineering resources and work closely with the team that came up with the Dallas-Houston route to look at commercial viability. Hyperloop One is in the early stages of developing a system that could potentially send people or cargo between cities at 700 miles per hour. The company is one of a handful of companies trying to bring the idea of a "Hyperloop" system--a vacuum-driven tube system--to life. Hyperloop was first discussed as a concept by technology mogul Elon Musk.
