Omnitracs Partners With Samsung On ELD Logging For Trucking Industry

Dallas-based fleet management software developer Omnitracs is partnering with Samsung on an electronic logging system aimed at the trucking and transportation industry, the company said today. According to the two, they have created a joint solution which uses Samsung's smartphones and tablets, with Omnitracs' XRS fleet management software. The new solution is aimed at U.S.-based trucking fleets, who are looking to meet the new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Mandate, which goes into effect on December 18th. Those mandates require drivers to track their hours on the job to meet specific safety requirements on hours worked, although many truckers have been fighting to overturn those ELD requirements.
