AT&T Acquires 5G Operator FiberTower
Dallas-based AT&T said today that it has acquired FiberTower Corporation, a provider of millimeter wave spectrum for the 5G telecom market. AT&T said it paid $207M for FiberTower, which will give it "significant footprint" in the 39 Ghz band. AT&T said it will use the acquisition to help it with spectrum to meet its goal of being the first U.S. company to introduce mobile 5G in a dozen markets by late 2018.
