True Wealth Ventures Scores $19.1M To Boost Women Entrepreneurs
Austin-based True Wealth Ventures, led by Sara Brand and Kerry Rupp, has raised $19.1M for its very first fund, the firm said on Tuesday. According to True Wealth Ventures, it will use the funding to invest in women-led, sustainable consumer and consumer health technology companies in the next several years in the Texas area and greater U.S. Although True Wealth did not details its limited partners, the firm said 80 percent of the limited partners in the fund are women. True Wealth Ventures said it expects to invest in around 12 companies through the fund. The new fund's focus on women entrepreneurs should be helpful to female entrepreneurs, who received only a fraction of the funding of male-led ventures; according to True Wealth, just 2.2 percent of all venture capital in the US went to companies founded by women in 2017.
