Backpage Seized By Law Enforcement

Dallas-based online classifieds site operator Backpage has been seized by law enforcement, including the FBI, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division, and the homes of the company's founders--in Arizona--were raided. A notice on the U.S. version of the Backpage site includes a notice from law enforcement on the raid. Backpage had gained notoriety in the U.S. law enforcement community for widespread posting of ads for prostitution.
