Topaz Labs Launches New Noise Removal Tool For Photos

Dallas-based software developer Topaz Labs, which develops photo manipulation and filtering tools, has released a new product which removes noise from photos, and sharpens details--all using artificial intelligence. According to Topaz Labs, its new product, AI Clear in Topaz Studio, automatically operates on photos, running on both Windows and Mac platforms. Noise reduction is the process of removing the inherent "noise" in photographs--which causes graininess of photos--which comes from capturing images in low light at high speeds. According to Topaz Labs, the company's new tool uses a neural network that was trained on millions of photos, to automatically remove that noise and sharpen detail. The new tool relies on GPU (graphical processing unit) in a PC. Topaz Labs said the new tool costs $59.99, and is also available as a plugin for Photoshop CS4+, Elements 6+, Creative Cloud, and as an external editor for Lightroom.
