Dell Aims To Return To Public Markets, Says Report
Round Rock-based Dell is mulling a return to the public markets, via a merger with the tracking stock for its VMware virtualization software unit, according to a report published Sunday. According to the Wall Street Journal, Dell is hoping to merge with the publicly traded DVMT tracking stock, to simplify the company's complex ownership structure. Dell has not yet confirmed those plans, which the WSJ attributed to "people familiar with the matter." Dell has been private since 2013, after it was acquired by founder Michael Dell and private equity investor Silver Lake.
