Bitcoin Miner Bitmain Plans Datacenter In Rockdale

Bitmain Technologies Ltd, a developer of Bitcoin and other blockchain data mining hardware and software, says it plans to open up a new data center in Rockdale, Texas. According to Bitmain, it expects to invest over $500M over seven years into the local economy for the data center, which it says will start operations in early 2019. Bitmain claims it will create over 400 jobs through the data center. "Cryptocurrency mining" is the process of running software to "create" Blockchain and other cryptocurrency, and requires vast amounts of data centers and energy. Bitmain said the new data center is a "key component" in its expansion plans within North America.
