Omnitracs Connects With Alexa
Dallas-based fleet management software developer Omnitracs says it has connected its tools with Amazon Alexa, in a development for one of its customers. According to OMnitracs, it built an Amazon Alexa skill for one of its customers, P&S Transportation, which allows the company to get updates on its fleet all using Amazon Alexa. The private skill--only available to P&S Transportation--lets that firm retrieve that fleet info just like retrieving weather information from Amazon's popular voice-driven personal assistant. Omnitracs didn't say if it plans on rolling out the Alexa skill to their customers. Omnitracs did say that its analytics team has been experimenting with Amazon's Alexa technology, as it also won an Alexa hackathon last year, by creating a system where Alexa users could receive information about driver performance using Omnitracs' telematics data. The company said that system allows fleet managers to use Alexa to talk to gain insights such as how many drivers were on-duty, in violation, or had hard braking events that day.
