Michael Dell Backs Sleep Tracking Ring Startup
Michael Dell's latest investment is in a startup which developing an ring, which tracks your sleep, pulse, your movements, and more using 3D accelerator, temperature, and other sensors, all aimed at helping people improve their sleep patterns. According to Oura Health, it raised a $20M funding round, which was led by Michael Dell's MSD CApital, and also included Steve Chen (co-foudner of YouTube), Kevin Lin (co-founder of Twitch), Drew Brees, Dave Morin, Apolo Anton Ohno, Ryan Rzepecki, Shaquille O'Neil, Jimmy Johnson, Lance Armstrong and Will Smith, among others. The company is based in Finland. Oura says its ring includes NTC body temperature sensors; blood volume pulse measurements, a gyroscope, and other information which it uses to track you 24/7.
