Austin Firm Aims At 3D Printing Homes
Is a 3D printed home in your future? Austin-based residential builder Sunconomy, and San Francisco residential development firm Forge New hope so, saying on Wednesday they have launched a new, 3D printed home technology system called We Print Houses. According to the companies, they have created a system which lets home builders and contractors actually construct 3D printed homes. The company claims it has created a system which uses "hydrophobic, self-binding, proprietary geopolymer cement" which eliminates the need for brick layers, dry wall installers, roofers and others. It's unclear if the company has actually developed its 3D home printing system: the company does not appear to have actually built any of its 3D printed houses yet. The new company is led by Larry Haines.
