CyrusOne Goes To 100 Percent Renewables In London
Dallas-based data center operator CyrusOne said this week that it has moved to 100 percent, renewable power at its two data centers in London, which the company said will transfer the equivalent to the usage of 52,000 households to zero-emissions sources in the UK. According to CyrusOne, its London I data centre in Slough and its London II facility in Prologis Park, Stockley, are now served by Hudson Energy with a 100 percent renewable energy tariff. The company says its third project--currently being developed in Stockley Park--will also be run off renewable energy. CyrusOne did not say how the move to renewable energy will impact the cost of its operations, hwoever, the company said "the data centre industry is in a strong position to effect change in terms of how green energy is priced and made available" and that move will help renewable rates to decrease.
