Freescale Buys Zenverge

Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor said this morning that it has acquired Zenverge, a fabless semiconductor company focused on advanced, HD content processing ICs. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Zenverge's chips are used for high speed transcoding of media into such format as Ultra HD (HEVC) and other formats. Zenverge was venture backed by Battery Ventures, CID Group, DCM-Doll Capital Management, Entropic Communications, Motorola, Norwest Venture Partners, Verizon, and Woodside Fund.
