Silicon Labs Completes Ember Buy
Austin-based Silicon Labs, the developer of analog and mixed signal integrated circuits, reported today that it has completed its acquisition of Ember Corporation, the developer of 802.15.4 ZigBee semiconductors. Silicon Labs said it would pay $72M for Ember back in May. Silicon Labs said it expects Ember to contribute approximately $10-$12M in revenue in the second half of 2012. Ember's low power, wireless semiconductors are used for wireless communications in embedded systems, across different residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Ember was based in Boston, and venture backed by ChevronTexaco Venture Equities, DFJ ePlanet Ventures, DFJ New England, GrandeBanks Capital, Polaris Venture Partners, RRE Ventures, Vulcan Capital, and WestLB Asset Management.
