RF Code Unveils Motion-Sensitive RFID Tag
Austin, Texas-based RF Code Inc., a manufacturer of radio frequency identification chips, revealed Tuesday that it has added an infrared-enabled active RFID tag to its product suite. The company explained that the new M100-i tags operate similarly to those in its M-series product line and can also broadcast secondary room-level data that RF Code's companion A700 Room Locator devices generate. RF Code said the new tags are equipped with on-board infrared movement detectors that periodically report their unique ID and IR location codes. The motion sensor, RF Code said, enables a tag to conserve battery power when an asset is at rest, yet report more frequently once the asset has moved.
