Layered Technologies Appoints CEO

On-demand Internet service and hosting provider Layered Technologies Inc. announced yesterday that it has hired John "Jack" Finlayson as chief executive officer and chairman of the company's board of directors. Layered Technologies said Finlayson succeeds Michael Platner, who had been CEO since co-founding the Plano, Texas-based company in 2004. Platner, Layered Technologies noted, will remain as a board member and serve as vice chairman of the board. Layered Technologies added that Platner and Finlayson will transition responsibilities during the next few weeks, with Finlayson officially beginning his CEO/chairman role Nov. 26. Prior to his appointment, Finlayson served as a director and consultant for the company, Layered Technologies said. Before that, the company added, Finlayson was president and chief operating officer at SAVVIS Communictions Inc.
