EDS to Host Daimler Financial's IT Environment

Business-process outsourcing firm EDS revealed Monday that it will relocate and then manage Daimler Financial Services' information technology infrastructure as part of a new service agreement. The financial impact of the three-year contract was not disclosed. EDS, which is based in Plano, Texas, said it will move Daimler Financial’s 150 or so midrange servers, mainframe computers and data storage devices to EDS data centers in Auburn Hills, Mich., and Sacramento, Calif. EDS explained that this transition of responsibility will enable Daimler Financial to focus on its core wholesale, retail and lease businesses. EDS added that the service contract was signed in August. Headquartered in Farmington Hills, Mich., Daimler Financial Services manages wholesale and retail loan portfolios.
