Dell To Buy EqualLogic

Dell said today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase EqualLogic, a maker of enterprise storage products, in a deal worth approximately $1.4 billion in cash. EqualLogic, which is based in Nashua, N.H., develops storage area nwetorking products based on the iSCSI storage protocol. iSCSI uses Ethernet networking to connect storage systems to servers and PCs. According to Dell, the acquisition is expected to close in Q4 of Dell's fiscal 2008, or early Q1 of its fiscal 2009 year.
