AirWalk Joins Industry Group

Richardson-based AirWalk Communications said today that it has joined the Femto Forum, an independent industry association promoting femtocell technologies. AirWalk, which develops base stations and controllers for the wireless industry, said that the group promotes femtocell technology through open standards, market education and ecosystem development. Femtocell technology is being promoted to provide better cell phone connectivity within homes and small offices by extending mobile operators' service through DSL and cable broadband connections. Other members of the forum include Alcatel-Lucent, NEC, RadioFrame Networks, Vodafone, and others.
