MobiTX Launches Mobile Advertising Firm

Austin-based MobiTX said this week that it has launched a new company focused on mobile advertising. According to the firm, it will launch in summer 2008 and offer free mobile airtime to subscribers, subsidized by advertising and marketers. The new company was founded by Robinson Cocke, Trey Ikard, and Dave Powell. Powell, the firm's CEO, was formerly at MessageOne, which was acquired by Dell in February, and also was President and CEO of database firm Metapa (now Greenplum). Ikard is the President of MobiTX, and was also formerly at MessageOne. He also founded HillCast Technologies, which was purchased by Charles Schwab in 2005.
