Wayport's McDonald's Coverage Cracks 10,000
Wireless network service provider Wayport Inc. reported Tuesday that its service coverage for U.S.-based McDonald's restaurants has surpassed 10,000 locations, more than 9,300 of which are Wi-Fi enabled. Irving, Texas-based Wayport has been providing McDonald's with public Wi-Fi access and various private services, including back-office processing and network failover since April of 2004. Four years and more than 10,000 locations later, Wayport noted, McDonald's now boasts the country's largest Wi-Fi network under a single brand. Wayport is an operator of WiFi and other broadband connectivity services for the hospitality and other industries.
