Dell Makes Assault On Virtualization Market

Dell said Wednesday that it has rolled out a complete set of servers, storage, software, and services for virtualization, as the firm looks towards tackling the growing virtualization market. According to Dell, it has rolled out a new online tool to streamline deployment of virtualization; rolled out two servers optimized specifically for virtualization; integrated its storage arrays with VMware; added new products from Egenera; and added servicing support for the market. Among the new products from Dell are the ability to configure systems with VMware ESXi 3.5, the leading server virtualization software suite, pre-installed on its servers, and two servers that the company is specifically targeting at virtualization. The servers also include support for the Citrix XenServer virtualization software product.
