Wayport Gets Win With HughesNet
Irving, Texas-based Wi-Fi provider Wayport has inked an agreement with HughesNet, the satellite broadband network run by Hughes Network Systems, to provide its Wi-Fi services to HughesNet subscribers, the companies said Thursday. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Wayport will provide Wi-Fi at over 10,000 U.S. locations, including the firm's network in McDonald's restaurants, Hertz airport locations, and within hotels served by Wayport. HughesNet said it will charge $14.99 a month for unlimited Wi-Fi access for the service. HughesNet provides broadband access via satellite, with a focuses on rural and other markets not served by cable or DSL broadband.
